Meeting Two Thai Women and Losing Money in Bangkok

Well, this goes back a long time. I was 22 years old somewhere in 1980 traveling through Southeast Asia for the first time. Originally, only planned to stay 2 months 1 month in Indonesia, 1 month in South Korea. That did not happen. I had saved more money than expected and one change led to another. Before I knew it, I had stretched the trip to 6 months.
At some point, I was staying on Lake Toba, Indonesia, and that is where I met a guy who told me about Thailand. Not about temples, not about food, but about the women. He said they were incredible. Normally, you paid them, but if they really liked you, you did not have to give them anything. I remember thinking, “Well, this might be my chance because at 22, I was still not experienced in that department.” I had girlfriends back home, sure, but I was shy very shy and somehow things never happened. So, Thailand suddenly sounded interesting.
Meeting Two Thai Women and Losing Money in Bangkok

From Singapore, I went via Kuala Lumpur to Penang and from there by train to Bangkok. On the train, I met a Canadian guy. We decided to share a room to save money. I had booked a small hotel in Nana. At the time, I had absolutely no idea what that area was known for. I only found out later.
On my first day, I went for a walk, just wandering around taking it all in. Then suddenly, a young Thai woman with long black hair stopped near me and asked where I was going. “Just walking,” I said. We talked a bit, small talk, and then she said it was too hot and she wanted to go back to her room to take a shower. I said, “Okay, enjoy.” Then she looked at me and said, “Why don’t you come with me?”
Now, I hesitated. Was she one of those women? So, I told her I did not have much money on me. She smiled and said, “No problem, no worries.” And I thought, “Well, what do I really have to lose?” So, I went with her.
The Two-Woman Apartment Encounter

Her apartment was just a few blocks away. Inside, she asked if I wanted to join her in the shower. And me, 22 years old, hormones everywhere, zero experience I did not think twice. To be honest, I barely remember what actually happened. In that shower, everything was new and overwhelming. But a few minutes later, I heard noise in the apartment. Another woman had arrived a friend of hers. She peeked in, laughed, and asked if she could join. And just like that, I found myself on the bed with two beautiful Thai girls having the time of my life. I had no idea who was kissing who total chaos, a dream come true. At least, that’s what I thought.
Looking back now, I’m pretty sure something else happened that day. While I was in the shower with one of them, the other one probably went through my bag because I later discovered my traveler’s checks and cash were gone. They did not take everything though. My passport, tickets, and the checkbook list were still there. So, in a strange way, they were kind. And honestly, for an adventure with two beautiful women, the price was not that bad. It still makes me laugh today.
Anyway, we had agreed to meet again that evening near the Grace Hotel. So, that night, I waited. Nobody came. Eventually, I went into the coffee shop nightclub inside the hotel, and not long after, another woman approached me. One thing led to another, and I took her back to my room. Remember, I was still sharing it with the Canadian guy. He seemed asleep, so we tried to be quiet.
The next morning, she asked for money. I expected that, so I grabbed my bag and realized my money was gone. That is when it hit me. At first, I thought the Canadian guy had robbed me he had been alone in the room after all but I was too confused to think clearly, and the woman was getting angry. She wanted to be paid. So, I borrowed money from him, paid her, and that was that.
The Thai Princess Who Changed Everything

Later that day, I went to the police and reported everything. Luckily, my traveler’s checks were insured and I had the serial numbers. Within a week, the bank reimbursed me, so I was not broke, just shaken.
That same evening, I went back to the coffee shop. This time, I thought, “Okay, now I want to meet one of those nice women people talk about.” And I did. She was not the most beautiful woman in the room, but to me, she was a princess. She stayed with me for a week. We went to Chiang Mai together, did a jungle trek. She took care of me, and she never asked me for money. I think she saw how incredibly naive I was and made sure nobody would take advantage of me again. We had a great time, and yes, plenty of aerobics.
At one point on the way back to Bangkok, I asked her if she ever wanted to leave Thailand. She smiled and said, “No. She loved her country too much.” And that was that. The day after we returned to Bangkok, I got my money back. I booked a flight to Indonesia and went back to my friends at Lake Toba. I never saw her again. No internet back then, no LINE, no social media, nothing. And honestly, I never regretted it. We both knew it was something temporary.
Over the years, I met many more Thai women in Thailand, but none of them ever stole from me. Not because they could not, but because after that first lesson, I became a lot more careful. Pickpockets, sure those happened elsewhere in the world but Thai women never robbed me again.
Looking back now, I realize how incredibly lucky I was, especially when I hear stories today about men losing everything after falling in love with Thai bargirls. That never happened to me because I was naive, not stupid. Or maybe just lucky. Probably both.
Today, I am married to a wonderful Thai woman. We have been together since 2012, and sometimes when I look at the old photos from that trip two young people both smiling I just think, “Yeah, that was one hell of a beginning.”
The Isaan Nurse, Online Dating, and the First Trip

My name is Joe, originally from the UK, but I have been in Florida for the last 35 years and I’m now 60 years old. The story starts back in 2017 when after a marriage of 20 years, things had gone downhill rapidly and I entered the divorced and single world.
A friend of mine had a Thai wife and encouraged me to widen my net and try some Thai dating sites, saying that if I liked Thai women or was just curious, I would massively increase my chances. Once the app went live, I could not believe the response. Literally hundreds of replies in the first few days. Whereas in Florida, you might be lucky to get 10 in a week.
I quickly learned who the scammers were as they just wanted financial support, but my main aim, apart from enjoying the holiday, was to meet someone when I got there. Two months before the trip, I started chatting to a Thai lady called Pom who worked as a nurse in the northern Isaan area. Apart from being absolutely stunning, she had a figure to die for.
We quickly moved to regular video calls almost daily, and I kept wondering how I had got so lucky, almost expecting it to fall apart at any moment. Strangely, she seemed to feel the same about me, and the connection grew stronger as we talked more about our past and what we wanted in the future.
Just over a month before the trip, my friend pulled out for personal reasons, which felt like a disaster. But by then, things with Pom had developed enough that I had decided to go solo and hopefully meet her. She was excited but could not get much time off work. Then, about a week later, she came back with the second setback.
On a call, she admitted she had also been chatting to a Dutch guy who was coming over a month after me, and he had even sent her 15,000 baht to cover her unpaid leave. She said it would not be fair on him for us to meet, and she was genuinely sorry. There was nothing I could do. We exchanged a few messages after that, but the spark had gone.
Reconnecting With Pom in Khon Kaen

I still went to Thailand and stuck to my original plan, spending the first 6 days in Phuket near Bangla Road before deciding where to go next. Phuket was stunning and confirmed everything I had experienced from Thai women online. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and open. The food was amazing and great value. Bangla Road itself was lively with expats, bar girls, and all sorts of people to talk to.
But something was still missing. I messaged Pom and gradually steered the conversation back to the idea of meeting up. I suggested I could fly to Khon Kaen, book a hotel with separate bedrooms, and finally meet her after all those months of chatting. She said she would think about it and a few hours later agreed, but asked if she could bring a friend from the hospital.
The expected 6:00 p.m. arrived, passed, and by 7:45 p.m., I got a message saying they were outside. I went down like a kid at Christmas and finally saw Pom in person. She looked stunning. After checking in, we went out for food and drinks at a nice open air restaurant. I soon realized Pom was trying to introduce me more to her friend, Som, than focus on us, which made things a bit awkward as I was far more interested in Pom after all the time we had spent talking.
After dinner, we went to a Thai style nightclub. While Pom was in the toilet, Som turned to me and asked directly if I liked Pom and not her. I admitted I did and apologized if I had disappointed her. After Pom came back, their conversation in Thai seemed to change the dynamics. Som became quieter, and Pom and I started chatting and flirting more.
A Thai Wedding and the Isaan Countryside

By then, we had all had a fair bit to drink, and Som was clearly struggling. We got a taxi back to the hotel and had to help her walk. At reception, out of sight, she was sick all over the floor and chair. Pom took care of her while I grabbed tissues to clean up as best as I could. Their room was just along the corridor from mine, so I helped get her settled with water.
This is where my first trip to Thailand took a turn for the better. Once Pom was sure Som was safe, she asked if she could stay in my room. It did not take long for me to say yes, and I can honestly say the aerobics that night was the best I’ve ever experienced.
The next morning, she was still there, and we had a repeat performance before she checked on Som. The three of us had breakfast together, and later they invited me to a Thai wedding at the hospital that evening. I was not sure where I stood with Pom, but I said yes and also asked if I could stay with her for the remaining 8 days of my trip. Fortunately, she agreed.
The wedding was an amazing experience my first trip to Thailand and I was the only foreigner among 200 Thai people. Yet, everyone was welcoming and friendly. I felt like a VIP. I was completely taken with Pom. She had that natural beauty where she did not realize how attractive she was.
The rest of the trip became a defining moment in my life as she took me around Roi Et, Ubon Ratchathani, and other parts of Isaan elephant sanctuaries, all amazing experiences. She still had to work some days, but her mom brought me food and Pom made me breakfast before work. She even lent me a bicycle to explore the countryside. It was a completely different, surreal, and unforgettable experience the time of my life.
The Long-Distance Relationship After Thailand

Saying goodbye at the airport 8 days later was tough. We started a long distance relationship, and I visited her again 3 months later, although things had changed and it did not last for various reasons. A few years later, we met again and remained good friends. I’ve not spoken to her for a few years now, but I hope she is happy. I feel content with my life now, but I often think back to that first trip and how much she shaped everything that followed.
A 23-Year-Old’s First Trip to Bangkok and Pattaya

For a bit of context, I am a 23 year old American fresh out of college. After graduating, I landed a decent job that required me to move to Europe and travel quite frequently. I am an average guy apart from being 195 cm tall, and I only mention this because height does not matter. You can still get scammed or end up in a bad situation if you’re not careful.
This was a last minute trip with a friend from America. We met in Bangkok and planned to stay for 1 week in 2025. I had a fair idea of what we were getting into from the stories I had listened to and the research I had done, but my friend knew almost nothing not even what Soi Cowboy was about. For the purpose of this story, I will call him John.
The First Night on Soi Cowboy

I decided it was time to introduce John to Soi Cowboy and gave him a quick rundown of what to expect the games, the red flags, and what not to do. When we arrived, it was only around 8:00 p.m. and still early. Only one or two bars were open. It had started raining heavily, so we had to go somewhere. So, we walked into one of the open bars. We each sat with a girl, had a drink, and the usual questions started. Where are you from? First time in Thailand? And so on.
I liked the girl I was with but kept my guard up. John, on the other hand, got hooked straight away. We ended up paying the bar fine and went to Khao San Road to carry on the night. At one point, John was dancing with his girl when someone a drunk foreign guy kept grabbing him from behind, pulling his hair, and tapping him constantly. John was getting annoyed, so I stepped in and told the guy to stop. He apologized, and then he carried on anyway. Then the girl stepped in and absolutely went to war with him, shouting and getting staff involved until his friends dragged him out. That was a bit of a wake up call for us on the first night not to drink too much and keep our heads on straight.
The rest of the night was fairly straightforward, and we went back to the hotel. The girls left in the morning.
Soi 6 in Pattaya

The next day we explored, but John could not get Ploi out of his head and ended up going back to see her. From that point on, she was with us for the rest of the trip. After a few days in Bangkok, we decided to go to Pattaya. We booked a taxi, and Ploi came with us.
Pattaya felt a bit like Florida but with a completely different vibe. During the day, we walked down Soi 6 to see what it was like before it got busy. But we knew we had to come back at night. Around 10:00 p.m., we went back, and that first walk down Soi 6 at night is something I will never forget. It was chaos. Girls grabbing me from every direction, stronger than I expected, pulling me into their bars. One girl nearly pushed me into the road trying to get my attention. Another pinned me against a pickup truck. It was wild.
The Club That Turned Sour in Pattaya

We walked the whole street and then decided to pick a bar. The next bar was much better more relaxed and fun. I met another girl who was easy to talk to, and I told her it was my first time in Thailand. Everything seemed fine, and I asked her about Walking Street and if she knew any good clubs. She suggested one, and we decided to go. That turned out to be a mistake.
We got into the club quickly after she spoke to the bouncer, which in hindsight was a red flag. Inside was packed, and she took us to a VIP table with people she knew. I was already drinking water to sober up, but she kept trying to get me to drink more and even ordered a beer for me, which I did not touch.
At some point, I accidentally knocked a beer off which spilled onto someone below. Staff rushed over, and suddenly I was being accused of throwing drinks. Then people started grabbing me, pulling my arms, my shirt, trying to force me to sit down. I had never felt anything like it completely out of control and isolated. After I apologized and things calmed down slightly, I took the first chance I had and left the club.
Looking back, it became clear what was going on. The girl was getting commission from drinks and bringing customers to that club, where her boss ran the setup. I still do not know if what happened was an accident or something more planned, but I know I will never go back there.
The next night in Pattaya, I met another girl on Soi 6 who was far more relaxed and genuine, and we spent the rest of the trip having a great time.
The Pregnant Bar Girl Before the Trip

Back in November 2024, whilst in Pattaya, me and my friend got up around 2:00 p.m. following a night out on Soi 6 and went out for breakfast or lunch. We were staying on Soi 5 and found a cafe on Central Road that did all day breakfasts. While walking up the street, a group of bar girls were calling us over. That is where I locked eyes with a stunner. Her name was San.
She caught my attention straight away. We went back after eating, and I spent about an hour there. I bar fined her without hesitation. Once back in the room, we had some aerobics and then relaxed. She started talking to her friends on the phone, so I put Google Translate on, and it picked up most of the conversation. Basically, her friends had also been bar fined, and they were arranging to go out drinking for the rest of the night. I was fine with that.
When I returned home, she continued to message me from time to time, which I found a bit strange as I had only seen her for one afternoon, but I stayed in touch. I was returning to Thailand in November 2025 and arranged to meet her for a day or two, but about a month before I was due to go, she said her grandmother was dying and she needed to return home to Buriram. Her grandmother passed away a few weeks later, and she sent me photos and videos of the funeral and her family.
The Pregnancy Bombshell

Over the next few months, she messaged me more and more every day. She told me how she got into bar work, how she used to party, how she missed her friends, and how lonely she felt back home. Then in February, she sent a series of messages that dropped a bit of a bombshell. She said, “If I did something serious, would you still talk to me or would you stop contacting me altogether?”
Eventually, she told me she was pregnant and due anytime. She said it was with a Norwegian guy she met for one night when she was very drunk, and although she was on contraception, it did not work. She said she had raised the money to take care of it, but her mom told her she had to keep it as getting rid of it was considered a sin. And when she contacted the man, he blocked her.
She told me she originally worked in the bar for fun because she enjoyed it and being with her friends, not because her family forced her. But now things have changed. Her mom would look after the child, and she planned to return to bar work.
Anyway, I told her I was still planning to visit Thailand in May, and if she wanted to spend some time with me before going back to work, I agreed to spend 3 days with her as I know about the 3 day rule. She then sent me messages saying she wanted to make the most of our time, travel together, go anywhere as long as we were together, get drunk and talk about everything, and that she wanted us to be together like normal as if she was not a bar girl.
I will hopefully go in May and spend a few days with her and see what happens. We’re both realistic. She knows I’m only there for a few days, and I know she will return to the bar.
I know this is a bit of a different story to the usual ones. Am I leading her on? Has she developed feelings through messaging, or am I being played? I do not know. I have been clear from the start that I will not send money and I would not date a bar girl, but I do not mind staying in touch. Maybe we just enjoy talking.
Protection and the Consequences of Pregnancy

What I would say to anyone going to Thailand is make sure you use protection for obvious reasons, and do not go there with the intention of getting these girls pregnant because there are real consequences. San is finding that out the hard way.
