Possibly A New Thai Girl Scam
Just a small incident occurred during my recent trip to Bangkok, just about a month ago.
I thought it might be an interesting and perhaps cautionary tale for your viewers.
Thankfully, nothing serious happened in the end.
It might just be my paranoid nature, but having lived in Amsterdam for 30 years, I consider myself educated on matters like this.
I believe I almost fell victim to a scam.

How The Scam Started
It all took place on Sukhumvit Soi 4 in Bangkok, close to Nana Plaza.
The details are a bit hazy, likely due to my bar tab running into the thousands of baht.
I was a regular at a laid-back pool bar further down the street, where I had made some friends early on in my visit to Koh Samui.
Engaging In Casual Conversation With The Bar Girls
This bar became our usual meeting spot to enjoy some beers and play pool.
Unlike the girly bars in the area, it was just a normal establishment.
After visiting this bar for three consecutive nights, I decided to stay a bit longer on one particular night.
The atmosphere was friendly, with some German guys playing pool and a few normal Thai ladies a bit older, seemingly uninterested in the other foreigners.
They appeared to be friends with the bar staff, engaging in casual conversation and enjoying drinks.
Leaving The Bar With One of The Girls
Later in the night, already well into my evening, I found myself chatting and playing pool with one of the Thai ladies who hadn’t shown much interest before.
This spontaneous interaction felt unusual, especially since she didn’t ask for a drink but knew the staff well and obtained her drinks from them.
Eventually, we decided to leave the bar together, with her friend joining us for a walk.
It wasn’t a situation indicating anything beyond a friendly night out.
Claims That I Was Taking Advantage of A Drunk Thai Girl
However, a bit further down the street, the lady suddenly sat down, seemingly sick from alcohol.
Two guys, whom I recognized from earlier at the bar, approached.
One of them spoke English remarkably well and started shouting at me in the middle of the street.
Perplexed, I couldn’t figure out what I had done wrong.
The situation escalated as they accused me of wrongdoing, insinuating that I was taking advantage of the girl.
Luckily, Things Did Not Escalate
Despite my innocence, I contemplated shouting back, but realizing the oddity of the situation, I decided against it.
The guys seemed intent on confronting me on the sidewalk.
I had nothing to do with them or the situation, so I chose to walk away before things escalated further.
Fortunately, that was the end of it.
Reflecting on the possible scam
It was only later that I reflected on how strange the encounter was.
Who were those guys, and why were they following us?
Could the girl be associated with them, and was this some sort of scam?
My suspicions grew, imagining a scenario where she might later claim I took advantage of her, threatening to involve the police unless a spontaneous donation was made.
Perhaps I’m being paranoid, but the situation felt off, and I suspect they might have been working together.
