Business Trip To Pattaya Turned Into Meeting My Future Wife

I am in my mid-20s and I’m from Germany. I have a good, successful life, a good job, money, my own place, and everything I could really ask for at this age.

I was lucky, I guess, because I was born into a wealthy family and joined the business as soon as I left school.

Anyway, my story starts in Pattaya after I was sent there for what was meant to be a business trip for the boss at my company, who happens to be my uncle.

I didn’t expect to do much, just the tasks set out by the company, maybe a day or two relaxing and then back to Germany to carry on.

Little did I know that this trip would change my life forever in unexpected ways.

I had been to Bangkok before but again, I did not get to do much as it was mainly business, though this would be the first time going to Pattaya.

Learning About Pattaya Nightlife

I heard a lot about Pattaya, to be blunt, I heard it was heaven for older western guys as the city is full of bars and girls.

Now, I didn’t have a problem with guys going there for fun, I don’t judge people, but it just didn’t sound like it was for me

Before my trip, I did try to learn a little basic Thai so I could get by and maybe impress a few locals, like when I’m ordering food and such.

I did do a little bit of research on YouTube about Pattaya nightlife, it just looked like carnage and even though it wasn’t my thing, it did look a little tempting.

Finally Arriving In Pattaya, Sin City

So it was finally time to get to Pattaya. After a long flight and a taxi ride, I got to my hotel, the P Plus Hotel, on a soi called “Excite.” Even the street name showed me the type of area I was in.

I got stuck into my work, I wanted to try and get everything done so I could get stuck into the city a bit and make the most of my time there

I was there solo, so I could get up to things that I probably would do in my own country.

One night after finishing up my work, I decided to head out and experience the nightlife a little bit, I’m not a big drinker, but when in Rome, do as the Romans do.

And like most guys out in Pattaya, I met a girl at a bar.

I understand if you’re already having doubts, and believe me, I felt the same warning signs flashing in my mind.

Learning The Warnings About Pattaya Bars

I had read about bar girls in Pattaya, and how you should not start anything serious with one, to just treat it as a bit of paid fun.

Ignoring The Bar Girl Red Flags

It’s safe to say that all the warnings that I had heard went through one ear and out the other.

I offered to buy her a drink and we started talking, now I know these types of girls are very strange and it’s easy to fall for their charm, but she came across genuine, dare I say “She seemed different”

I’d been to a couple of bars before this, and all the girls were too forward for me, I really wasn’t interested.

But with this girl I just felt something, hard to explain.

There was a great connection and it was nice to be around her, it actually didn’t feel like I was paying her to sit and drink with me, I think she would have done it even if I wasn’t buying lady drinks… Who knows?

She told me her name was Nong, she was from Isan and she was 23 years old, though she looked much younger than that, and she was a real beauty in all departments.

A Genuine Connection With Nong

We must have sat there and just chatted and drank for a good 3 hours, even though I only planned on going out for an hour or so for a couple of beers.

After a good night chatting and flirting, I asked her if I could bar fine her and if she would like to come back to my hotel, to which she accepted.

Taking A Pattaya Bar Girl Home

The hotel was only about 10 or 15 minutes’ walk up Soi Buakhao so we decided to walk rather than get a taxi.

During our walk back, she held my hand and in that moment I felt like I was falling in love, maybe I was going to become another victim of Pattaya.

I can see why guys come here and why some guys can’t bear leaving.

Close to the hotel, one of Nong’s friends was standing outside a bar. She called Nong over and invited us in for a drink, I can’t remember the name of the bar now but it was close to the corner of what I now know is nicknamed Soi Potthole.

Anyway, we went in for another drink, this time I wasn’t buying lady drinks for Nong, but I was for her friend, though I only got her 1.

I was sat next to Nong, and her friend was sat on the other side of the table, she kept making immature gestures like “You 2 look so cute together” though I secretly liked her saying things like that.

Leaving The Bar Together

We finally left the bar and this time it really was time to go back to the hotel.

Bar Fine and Short Time

When we got in my room, we both showered, separately, and then we got into bed.

We had no bedroom fun.

Honestly, we just cuddled and talked for a few hours before she fell asleep on my chest.

Yes it might sound a bit soppy but I loved it, I haven’t felt like that before, if ever.

The morning after our night together, I really didn’t want her to leave so I was tossing the idea around in my head on whether to pay for her time for the rest of the week that I am there.

I wasn’t really interested in spending more nights in the bars with different girls, I would rather make some memories with Nong

Choosing To Spend The Week Together

After going back and forth with myself I did just that, and we spent the remaining week together.

Dating A Thai Bar Girl In Pattaya

Going out and spending time together, it felt like just a paid holiday girlfriend type of scenario, well I guess it was in a way, but after a few days together she started coming out of her shell a bit and showing that she genuinely liked me, it now felt more of a real relationship type of thing.

Well I was hoping that she did like me and could see that I’m not a tourist in Pattaya for the same reason that many guys are.

I had told her that I was there on business, whether she believed that or not, I don’t know, as I bet she has heard similar lines to that before from other foreigners.

After about 3 days together she even said I don’t need to pay her for her time anymore, just cover the bar fine so she doesn’t have to go to work and can stay with me.

She had told me before that she does not have a lot of customers therefore doesn’t have much money, so I knew her saying I didn’t need to pay was a big thing for her.

She was even willing to use her own money when we went out for food, to which I clearly declined and I paid for everything.

Why Does My Future Wife Work In A Pattaya Bar?

The topic came up in conversation to why she works in a bar in Pattaya, and she claimed that her mom had passed away leaving just her and her older sister to fend for themselves.

She told me that her father had left at an early age and she rarely had anything to do with him, she hadn’t seen him since she was like 13.

Her sister went on to get married and have a couple of kids before her Thai husband left them all with nothing, so Nong took it upon herself to be the breadwinner and support the family, that’s why she headed to Pattaya for fast and easy money.

After a great time in Pattaya and falling in love with a bar girl, it was time to go back to Germany, it goes without saying that I really did not want to leave.

It wasn’t so much that I didn’t want to go back to Germany, it was that I did not want to leave Nong, at that point, I felt that I wanted to spend my life with her.

I did play with the idea of me working remotely from Pattaya so I could be with Nong, but after thinking it over, it would be impossible for me to do my type of work remotely, it’s something I need to be in Germany for.

Staying Connected After Pattaya

There is not much else to say about what happened during the months after we met, apart from we kept in touch daily.

Back Home, Missing My Thai Girlfriend

We would message and video chat as much as we could, and every day I felt like we got closer, even though we were so far apart

One day I finally bit the bullet, went against all the advice I read online regarding bar girls, and I invited Nong to come to Germany for a new life with me.

I knew people would start judging me, especially family, but I didn’t care because I just knew that Nong was the girl for me.

The only thing I asked for was her personal record to see if she was really single and not married, or had kids, or a Thailand serial criminal on the run.

I’m not stupid; I needed 100% proof before I brought her over

After I saw her documents and was happy with them, we applied for her visa and waited for that to be accepted.

Planning A New Life Together

After we got the all clear about the visa, I took the big step and paid her out of the bar, and promised her that I would support her family while we are in Germany.

Although I am sharing a lot in this story, I’d prefer to keep quiet the amount I paid the bar for her to leave for good.

Taking A Thai Girl Back To Your Country

She has been here for 6 months now, and I would be lying if I said it has been an easy journey for her, adapting to a completely different lifestyle, rules and culture.

But I am so proud that she has stuck it out, and gave it a shot rather than giving up and heading back to her old life in Pattaya.

It was a little funny watching her try and adapt to German food, and realising we don’t eat 10 times a day like the Thais.

As for me, the challenge has been dealing with my friends and family’s opinions about our relationship.

Though I have learnt to put their opinions in the back of my mind, as long as me and Nong are happy, that’s all that matters, right?

They are slowly coming around, and accepting that I am serious about my relationship. Nong and my mother get along great.

Winning Over Family And Friends

As for the men in my life, they just think its a stereotypical story where Nong is going to try and get as much money as possible then run away with a rich man once she gets her citizenship.

My Bar Girl Is Different

I know people get made fun of in the Thailand nightlife scene when they say that their girl is “different” especially when it’s a bar girl, but I can put my hand on my heart and say that I truly believe she is different and is with me because she loves me.

Nong and I are proof that it can work, maybe it’s a one-in-a-million chance, but still possible.

But who knows, maybe it will be a nightmare ending in a few years.

We have made a plan that in a few years, we will go back to Thailand where we will work remotely, I will sort the visas and whatnot out closer to the date that we decide to go back, but for now, I’m just enjoying our life and living in the day.

I’m not saying that there is hope to be in a proper relationship with any bar girl that you like, of course, a lot of them, in fact most of them, are just trying to get as much money from you as possible, but there are for sure girls out there that are looking for a serious relationship.
