A Different Perspective on Bar Girls

I would like to say that all I hear about most of the time is that bar girls, etc., are only after money and what they can get out of you. Even though this is true up to a certain point, my experience over the last 20 years has been a good one. I find if you take care of the girls and treat them with respect, they are always happy with that.
So my story starts in May 2023. I came to Pattaya for a couple of weeks, had a good time, and made some new friends I’m still in contact with that also live in the UK. The last three days in Pattaya, I felt really ill, and it still took me another week to get over it when I had got to the UK.
The girl I met on the day that I fell ill was named Pip. I will attach a photo. Even though she looks young, she’s actually 34. That’s because she has only been working in the bar for a little while, and the hard life of a bar girl with all the drinking, etc., had not yet taken its toll on her.
The First Night: Fun Followed by Sickness

Anyway, back to my story. The first night we were together, we had the normal bedroom fun which was very good. However, during the night I came over all funny, feeling sick and shivering and lightheaded. I struggled through to the morning, but I was feeling worse. I struggled to get out of bed. I remember thinking at the time I must have had a very rough night while out in the bars and all I needed was a good breakfast, some exercise, fresh air, and I would feel right as rain again.
After breakfast, we did some shopping because I wanted to get some gifts for my family back home. Upon returning to the hotel, I felt really bad, much worse than before. By the time I got back to my room, I was throwing up and having hot flushes. To be honest, I was getting very worried about my condition.
Pip Steps Up: A Stranger Becomes a Caregiver

Pip offered to go out to a pharmacy as there was one very close to where I was staying. So I gave her some money and asked her to just ask the pharmacy what I should take given my condition. She came back with everything she said I should take, and for the next six hours she looked after me, wiping me down with a cold towel, administering the medication, and generally taking care of me.
I was still feeling very rough and just wanted to curl up in bed and sleep it off. I didn’t want to waste Pip’s time, so I paid her for her time and the aerobics the night before and told her she should leave and just let me sleep. Pip left, and I fell into a deep sleep for about an hour.
The Knock at the Door: She Came Back

When I woke up, my head was spinning and I was very worried about my condition. I didn’t want to get up at that point. There was a knock at the door. I struggled to get to the door and opened it, but to my surprise, there was Pip with a big bag in hand.
She told me that she was worried about me and didn’t want to go and work in the bar that night, and she had bought me some hot food that was what was in the bag she was carrying. If I was totally honest with myself, I would say the sight of Pip standing in the doorway was the best sight I’d seen in a long time. I was on my own, many miles from home, lonely and worried about my condition. Just having company lifted my spirits no end.
I couldn’t eat very much, but I did manage a couple of mouthfuls. I fell asleep again, and every time I woke up every few hours or so, there was Pip sitting in the chair next to the bed, wiping me down with a cold towel and holding a cup of water up for me to drink. I honestly don’t know how much more difficult my time would have been without her in the room looking after me. She was fantastic. I’m full of respect for her, bar girl or no bar girl.
The Test of Trust: An Open Safe and an Honest Girl

When I was packing to leave for the airport, I noticed I’d left my wallet on the table and my safe was open, which had a considerable amount of money in there. Obviously I’d fallen asleep, so Pip could have helped herself. I made a lot of money, but I knew how much was there. I checked everything, and she didn’t help herself to one penny. She could have easily taken the lot and disappeared, and I wouldn’t have been able to find her.
I was so grateful for having met this girl. I tried to give her money for her time that she had spent with me over the last couple of days, but she wouldn’t take it. She just told me that she needed to pay the bar fine for the day she hadn’t been there, and that was all she would accept from me.
When the time came to leave the hotel, Pip helped me downstairs and into the taxi as I was still feeling weak. I was absolutely mortified to leave this girl behind. She was wonderful.
Back in the UK: Staying in Touch

When I got back to the UK, it took me several weeks to fully recover. I had taken Pip’s LINE ID, so I was in contact with her regularly. I was so grateful for how she had looked after me. I asked her to send me her bank details. I figured the least I could do was to send her a few thousand baht for looking after me as she did.
I will be returning to Thailand again for three weeks in November, but I’m not sure if I’m going to go to Pattaya again. I was a frequent visitor to the bar where I met Pip, so I know the bar owner who was Thai but spoke very good English. I thought I’d take a gamble, so I texted her because I also had her LINE ID, and I asked her if I could call her, to which she agreed.
I told her the story about Pip and how she’d looked after me and been brilliant while with me. I asked if I could send 10,000 baht to her bank account and then for her to give the money to Pip on my behalf. I knew it was a risk and the bar owner could have simply pocketed the cash, but I had a good feeling about her and I took the gamble.
The Reward: A Happy Girl and Massive Face

A few days later, Pip video called me from the bar. She was holding the 10,000 baht I had sent her and was waving it about in front of the other girls. She looked so happy, and of course it was massive face in front of the other girls, so she was probably happier about that than actually receiving the cash.
My thoughts at the time were: if I’d never met Pip again, the money was not important. What was important was what she had done for me while I was ill, and it made me happy to send her the money. I wasn’t expecting anything in return.
Conclusion: The Kind Side of Bar Girls

So to summarize and end this story, I will say this: yes, it is true that bar girls are out to get as much as they can out of guys coming to Pattaya, but I have seen a kind side of Pattaya bar girls. They can be kind when you’re down on your luck or you fall ill like I did. The actions of Pip have completely altered my thinking towards these girls. They work hard for their families, but they’re also kind at the same time.
