Was My Long Distance Thai Girlfriend Scamming Me?

I’m 58 years old, been divorced twice, and have three kids: two girls and a boy. Right now, I’m living with my 15-year-old son in Hawaii.

I used to be in the U.S. Army and got to travel around a bit.

My story begins in Australia when I was on vacation with my sister. While we were at a Chinese restaurant, we met a couple.

The guy was from Malaysia, and the girl was from Thailand.

While we were all sharing stories, I mentioned that I had plans to visit Thailand.

In a playful way, I asked the Thai girl if she knew anyone who could show me around.

Planning My Trip To Thailand

This was back in 2019, and I was planning my trip to Thailand as a solo traveler. My plans included visiting Bangkok and Pattaya.

We swapped Facebook contacts, and she introduced me to her friend Pui on Facebook about a month later.

Pui was really attractive, and I remember thinking, “Well, there go my bachelor plans.” But as we got to know each other, she shared that she had three kids, with the youngest being just two years old.

At first, I was a bit hesitant, but I decided I could still enjoy the tourist activities with her.

I wasn’t really looking for a serious relationship at that time.

Pui owned a cosmetic school, we kept in touch through Facebook almost every day, occasionally doing video chats over the course of the year.

I can’t recall the exact moment, but at some point, she mentioned that she was starting a business and asked if I wanted to invest in it.

Is My Online Thai Girl Trying To Scam Me?

I got a little skeptical, thinking it might be a scam, so I politely declined.

After I said no to her proposal, I was pretty sure she wouldn’t want to meet up again.

Time passed, and I had my vacation plans all set for a two-week trip in February 2020.

I landed in Thailand in the middle of the night.

The next day, Pui was tied up with her classes, so one of her staff members picked me up from my hotel.

Finally, we got to meet in person, and we had breakfast together.

Pui didn’t speak much English, and I didn’t know any Thai.

To help us communicate, she brought along a friend who was an artist, acting as our interpreter.

When we were alone, we relied on Google Translate to bridge the language gap.

On my first day there, I sat in on one of Pui’s classes and watched her at work.

She also showed me around Thailand, taking me to see the tourist attractions like temples and marketplaces.

I had the chance to meet Pui’s youngest son, and as the days went by, I started to develop feelings for her.

We became intimate, if you catch my drift.

Anyways, she took really good care of me, and when it was time to leave, I felt both happy and sad about it.

This all happened before the pandemic became a big concern.

Thankfully, I managed to make it back home safely.

But it wasn’t exactly a happy ending.

I told Pui that I wanted to return, and I planned to try in October.

Keeping In Touch With Thai Girl After Returning Home

We kept in touch using the Line app, which is a popular social media app in Thailand.

It was a bit challenging due to our limited communication skills, but we did our best to stay connected.

We continued to video chat, and Pui seemed really happy.

She told me she loved me many times and mentioned that she had land in Udon Thani.

She even brought up the idea of us getting married and building a house on that land in the future.

I felt like I had hit the jackpot, but around June, things took an unexpected turn.

Pui sent me a message saying that her doctor had advised her not to get married because of an issue with her uterus.

She suggested that we could still be friends, though.

Online Girlfriend Ghosted and Blocked Me

She deleted me on Facebook, and I was left feeling both heartbroken and strangely happy at the same time. It was a confusing mix of emotions.

I couldn’t explain about the happiness I felt, but I couldn’t quite understand the reason behind her actions.

Maybe someday in the future, I’ll find out the whole story.

In the meantime, I’m thinking about planning another trip to Pattaya as soon to carry on my adventure.
