Bangkok Parks, Street Food and Patpong Night Market
One of the most beautiful things that you can do these days when you are in Bangkok is to go out after sunset. Going out during the daytime is nearly impossible because the weather is super hot, unless you are going to spend it at the mall, which is not a good idea.
We are starting from Benjakitti Park and walking to Lumpini Park through the renovated green path. Without these green parks, Bangkok is not complete. The city is busy, crowded and noisy, so if you want to escape all these things, the only way is to come to these green parks, relax and recharge your batteries.
Benjakitti Park at Sunset
There are a lot of beautiful green parks in Bangkok, but today we are exploring the two most beautiful green parks. The first one is Benjakitti Park, and the second one, my favorite green park, is Lumpini Park, which has now been renovated. I think there is an event tonight, if I am not mistaken, so we may be lucky enough to catch it along the way.
As it gets dark, it is almost 6:35. Things become more beautiful, except for these annoying birds, as you know in Thailand, especially Bangkok. The locals call them ga-wao (annoying birds). They keep shouting day and night wherever you are. They are so loud, but that does not matter as long as you are enjoying these lively views.
Benjakitti Park is divided into two parts: the old park where we were at the beginning and the new park. Wherever you look, there are activities. Today is Sunday and most people are off, which is why it is kind of busy. If you pass by here on weekdays, it is much calmer.
Green Path from Benjakitti Park to Lumpini Park
Along the way, there are lots of signs that take you through the skywalk, the new renovated green path to Lumpini Park. You can walk from Benjakitti Park towards Lumpini Park, and after that to Silom, without taking any kind of transportation and while enjoying all these beautiful views.
You can see how beautiful the colors of the sky are at sunset time. This is the magic in Bangkok. During the daytime it is harsh and hot, and it is nearly impossible to walk. After sunset, it is one of the most pleasant things to do.
Just follow the path and you will not get lost. They were renovating this place for almost one year. One of the beautiful things that you can see while walking along this path is that on both sides you have classical old houses and narrow streets, while to your left and right you can see the high-rise Bangkok buildings. This is Bangkok, everything in one place.
It takes around 12 to 15 minutes to walk from Benjakitti Park towards Lumpini Park, depending on how fast you are walking. It will not take more than that.
Lumpini Park Evening Concert and Events
Welcome to Lumpini Park, my favorite park in Bangkok. There are lots of cars, and I think there is an event, if I am not mistaken. There are lots of activities at this park besides the sporting activities, and now it is much more beautiful.

It is a beautiful Philharmonic Orchestra concert. I do not know how long it will continue, but definitely, if you are in Bangkok, check it. At Lumpini Park, there are always events, but this one is special.
The entrance queue is too long, so I will not enter. It seems that there is an event connected with Netflix, and there are lots of things happening. You will never get disappointed once you explore Bangkok after sunset, no matter the season. We are soon heading to Songkran, but whenever you explore Bangkok after sunset, there is always something happening.
Dusit Central Park, Street Food and Mango Smoothies
After these two beautiful parks, you need somewhere to relax and refresh yourself. Dusit Central Park is one of the best places, just opposite Lumpini Park. There are lots of restaurants and coffee shops where you can take something to drink or eat and enjoy these beautiful Bangkok views.
After sunset, the weather is cooler and breezier, and it is more pleasant to go out, especially in the hot season. The vibes are totally different. This is one of the famous street food sections. You can eat roti or khao man gai next to that fancy mall. This is Bangkok, a fancy mall after street food.
Here you have one of the best mango smoothies for only 60 Thai Baht. It is super hot, so keep hydrated. I waited 10 to 15 minutes. This woman is very famous, just next to that mall. It is really tasty.
Patpong Night Market After Sunset
Welcome to Patpong Night Market. You can see how busy it is. It is still celebrating Chinese New Year, and today is Sunday, so wherever you go it is full of people.
This is one of the best places to try your bargaining skills. Last time I was here, I bought a football T-shirt. I think I paid around 150 Thai Baht. Usually, when you ask the prices, they start four to five times higher than the price that you should pay.
If you want to practise your bargaining skills, this is the place. You can find lots of copy items of good and bad quality, and sometimes you might pay a lot of money for nothing.
Even though we are in the hot season and the weather is harsh, the action is on and the vibes are beautiful, especially after sunset in Bangkok.
Dusit Central Park Next to Lumphini Park
Dusit Central Park is a new Bangkok destination beside Lumphini Park, combining a large mall with an elevated green space. The mall was already busy during its opening period, with restaurants, famous chains and food options filling the lower levels. The most distinctive reason to visit was the park above the shopping areas rather than the branded stores.
MRT and BTS Access to the New Bangkok Mall
The complex can be reached through nearby Bangkok rail connections, with access from the underground station and the adjacent BTS area described in the source. The park is connected to the mall, so visitors can move between public transport, indoor restaurants and the elevated outdoor spaces without needing another vehicle.
Exploring the Elevated Green Park and Sky Garden
The elevated park has several entrances, landscaped paths, stairs, seating areas and broad views across Bangkok. The higher visitors walk, the more open the views become. An elevator is available for anyone who does not want to use all the stairs, although walking through the different levels gives a better sense of the design. Some parts of the larger project were still under construction.
Bangkok Views, Water Features and Walking Paths
Water features, greenery and viewpoints make the sky park feel different from a standard mall terrace. There were places to stop and look back toward Lumphini Park, as well as areas where visitors could sit and enjoy the city. The space is designed for walking, taking in the skyline and spending time outdoors above the busy roads.
Coffee Stops and Scenic Breaks in the Sky Park
Some restaurants and cafés have direct access to the park spaces, making it easy to combine a drink or dessert with the views. A coffee and tiramisu stop was the simple break on this visit. The park is better suited to relaxing and enjoying the scenery than to a rushed meal, especially when the city views are the main attraction.
Bangkok Rainy-Season Weather for Outdoor Visits
Rainy season does not mean every day is unusable for outdoor plans. Cloudy or breezy weather can still be comfortable for walking, and a dry afternoon can make the elevated park especially pleasant. Sunset was recommended for the best views. Check the forecast before going, but a flexible visit can work even when the season is unsettled.
Benjakitti Park Location and Opening Hours
Sukhumvit is one of the busiest and most crowded areas in Bangkok, with cars, motorbikes, and tuk-tuks moving through the streets. Despite that, one of the most beautiful places in Bangkok is in this area: Benjakitti Park.
The easiest way to reach the park is to take the BTS or MRT to Asoke or Sukhumvit and walk from there. The main entrance is about three to four minutes away. The park can also be accessed from lower Sukhumvit.
The sign at the entrance says the park is open from 5:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Around 6:00 p.m. is a good time to enjoy the views and do sporting activities, especially as the heat begins to ease.
Benjakitti Park Old Section, Lake, and Asoke Views
Benjakitti Park is divided into an old section and a new section. The old part has been renovated and extended into a skywalk and a large park area next to it.
The main path in the old section runs around the lake. People come here to run, walk, and enjoy calm moments, while the lake and Asoke buildings provide views that feel surprisingly peaceful for central Bangkok.
The park is very large. With the old and new sections combined, it is larger than Lumpini Park, and it is possible to find quieter private spaces even when the busy period has brought many visitors.
The old section is a good place for walking and running, and the paths provide a large area to exercise or simply sit beside the lake. It is not possible to cover every part quickly, so a longer visit gives a better idea of the park’s size.
Benjakitti Park New Section and Skywalk
From the old park, paths lead towards the new section. There are several entrances, and the central route between the old and new parks leads to the newer area.
The new park has different paths for walking and biking, so cyclists should check which sections are intended for bikes. The skywalk and bridge are among the most interesting parts of the new section.
The bridge crosses through a green landscape with trees and open views. Walking above the park can feel far removed from Sukhumvit, even though Asoke and the city remain close by.
Many people arrive around the peak time to enjoy the views. The park can be hot during the day, so late afternoon is more comfortable for walking and taking photographs.
Benjakitti Park Sunset and Green Landscape
Sunset is one of the most beautiful times to explore Benjakitti Park. The trees, lake, paths, and city buildings change as the light becomes softer.
The new section has a jungle-like landscape in places, with dense greenery around the paths and bridge. It is an unusual contrast with the busy streets of Sukhumvit and the high-rise buildings around Asoke.
People visit to run, walk, enjoy the lake, and take photographs. The park is popular every day, including Monday, but its size means it is still possible to find a calm place away from the busiest paths.
Benjakitti Park Seating and Outdoor Events
At the end of the bridge there is a large green space with places to sit and watch outdoor events. Trees are planted between the seating steps and should provide more shade as they grow.
The open area is useful for taking a break after walking across the park. There are views of the greenery and the surrounding paths, and visitors can sit and enjoy the space rather than moving continuously.
Benjakitti Park offers a calm place for exercise and fresh air in the middle of Bangkok. The combination of lake views, the old paths, the new park, and the skywalk gives the visit several different sections to explore.
Benjakitti Park Paths, Biking, and Practical Tips
The park has many paths for walking, running, and biking. Visitors bringing a bicycle should check which sections are for cycling and which are for pedestrians.
There are no obvious places inside the park to buy water, refreshments, or snacks, so it is better to bring what you need before entering. There are also few signs, which makes the park open to explore but can make it harder to know exactly where every path leads.
To enjoy the park fully, arrive around 5:00 p.m. and explore until about 7:00 p.m., while keeping the 8:00 p.m. closing time in mind. Comfortable shoes, water, and protection from the heat are useful for the long paths.
Benjakitti Park is easy to reach from Asoke and lower Sukhumvit, but it feels separate from the traffic and noise outside. It is a strong choice for walking, running, sunset views, and a quiet green break in central Bangkok.
