A Bizarre Encounter in Phuket Bar Girl

Phuket Girl In Lingerie

I was 27 at the time, married and working with one of the big six accounting firms in Malaysia.

I am Malaysian Chinese, by the way.

I had recently been promoted to audit manager and was attending my first-ever Management Group Conference (MGC), which was essentially a getaway for all the managers and partners in the audit firm.

This year’s MGC was in Phuket, and although I had not been there before, I was looking forward to it.

Drinking At Normal Bars In Phuket

Happily married at the time, I was not a philanderer or player at that age.

After the normal flight and check-in to my hotel, I met up for dinner with everyone.

Some colleagues and I decided to have a drink in a bar near the hotel.

It was not a loud place, I don’t think it was a go-go bar.

Since we had both male and female colleagues together, we all found a table to sit around and ordered some drinks.

Strange Encounter With A Crying Thai Girl

After a while, I was suddenly hugged from behind by a Thai girl.

I was taken aback, and my colleagues were all looking at me, wondering what was going on.

I turned around and saw a girl with tears in her eyes looking at me.

She said something in Thai, and I had no clue what she was saying.

I was lost for words and wondered what was happening.

She kept looking at me, crying, and speaking in her own language.

Why Is This Random Girl Crying and Hugging Me

One of my colleagues stopped another waitress and asked her what the Thai girl was saying to me.

The waitress then went over, talked to the teary-eyed Thai girl, and my colleagues were still giving me strange looks.

Everyone was wondering what was going on between me and this Thai girl.

Turns Out I Looked Like Her Late Boyfriend

After a few moments, the waitress came over to me and said in broken English, “Sir, you look like her boyfriend. Her boyfriend is dead; accident. She says you look like her dead boyfriend.

Upon hearing this, I thought, in a Malaysian Chinese way, that’s not a good omen.

My colleagues all cracked up hearing that, and everyone had a good laugh.

The Thai girl did come back to our table a few times that night and just looked at me.

Just a short, funny story – the first time I’ve ever been recognized as a deceased person.
