Soi 6 and Soi 7 Locations in Pattaya

I have worked in over 20 bars on Soi 6, and I now own one on Soi 7. You can probably guess which one I prefer, but that does not mean it is the right choice for you.

Soi 6 is further north along Beach Road, while Soi 7 is much closer to Central Pattaya Shopping Center, with many hotels, restaurants, and other places nearby. For many people, that makes it a more convenient location if they are in town shopping, eating, and exploring that part of Pattaya.

On the other hand, if your hotel is near Soi 6, that will be the more convenient option for you. Soi 6 is easy to find, but do not book your hotel expecting these two streets to be right next to each other.

Drink Prices on Soi 6 and Soi 7

At Plank’s Bar, a lady drink is 210 baht, while a Sammy girl drink is 140 baht.

Two bars do not represent the entire streets. Happy hour, different types of drinks, and different types of venues can all change what you pay, so always check the menu.

A small difference might not bother you for one round, but when you are buying drinks all night, the cost can quickly add up. The price of one drink is only half the story. How often you are asked to buy the next one can make a big difference too.

Drink Targets Create Pressure on Soi 6

If you have never walked down Soi 6 before, that first experience can be very overwhelming. There is music coming from all the different bars, and girls are trying to pull you in every direction. Some people absolutely love it. They do not want a quiet drink; they want the full-on atmosphere. That is why they come here.

If you are new here and just want to chill out for a little bit after arriving, before anything wild happens, it can be overwhelming. The approach to selling drinks is much pushier on Soi 6, and a big part of that comes down to the high targets set for the girls who work there.

Every bar has its own rules, so this will not apply to every business on the street. Most Soi 6 bars include monthly drink targets of around 350 drinks per month, which is about 12 drinks per day. Falling short means a deduction of 50 baht for every drink below the target.

There are also other targets set behind the scenes. These hidden targets add more pressure to the staff working there, which makes them pushier with customers. When someone keeps asking you for another drink, they might not be thinking only about that one drink. They might be thinking about the overall monthly target.

On Soi 7, the drink targets are around 200 to 250 drinks, which is around eight or nine drinks per day. It might not sound like a massive difference, but it adds a lot less pressure to the girls, which means less pressure on you to buy another drink.

Obviously, you are still going to be asked to buy drinks on Soi 7. These are businesses at the end of the day, but the staff, management, and crowd all create the environment, which makes a difference.

The Best Time to Visit Soi 6 and Soi 7

The time you visit these streets can completely change your impression of them. I got there around 10:30 or 11:00, and it was quiet.

Soi 6 generally gets started earlier, with the top half of the street opening from 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. and the bottom half from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., although individual bars can vary. Because so much of the street is focused on bars, it can feel more lively earlier in the day.

Soi 7 is a different mix. It has hotels, shops, restaurants, and nightlife, so people are doing different things. The drinking atmosphere generally starts later.

At Delusion, the bar opens from 4:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. Other places keep different hours, so check the timetable for the venue you want to visit. Do not assume that the whole street follows the same times.

Are you planning some afternoon drinks, or do you want a full night out? That can change which street suits you and what time you should go. If you visit anywhere in the afternoon, it can change your impression of what it will be like in the evening, and you should take that into account.

Different Bar Styles on Soi 6 and Soi 7

One thing that is clear on Soi 6 is that most bars follow the same format, with tables of two and tables of six going down one side. In most of these bars, the main differences are the name and the colour theme.

For some people, that is completely the appeal. They know what they like, they enjoy it, and that is what they come here for. For me, it can become repetitive when going from one bar to the next. It feels like having the same experience all night, just in different buildings and locations.

That is where I think Soi 7 has the edge. There are traditional beer bars just like the ones on Soi 6, as well as go-go bars and the up-and-coming immersive hybrid bars, such as Delusion Bar, with LED lights, different layouts, a stage, and a more immersive experience.

Soi 6 has its own personalities too. There can easily be 2,000 or 3,000 people on the street at any given point. You can have a lot of good times there and meet many different people. You can have conversations that you would not have anywhere else in the world, and that is what makes the place so amazing.
