Kirimantra Restaurant and the Sunset Boat Ride

From Bangkok To River Kwai Resort

Driving From Bangkok to Kanchanaburi

Our beautiful vacation in this amazing province had come to an end. Today was a travel day, and we were going to explore a very beautiful province only two hours away from Bangkok. First, we stopped for coffee, and then I explained the plan.

We were going to explore Kanchanaburi and stay here for one night. These days, you can escape Bangkok and be in Kanchanaburi in less than two hours. There is a new highway, and it is amazing. It took almost 1 hour and 35 minutes to get here. We left early because we were going to explore as much as possible before checking in at our beautiful hotel, which is located next to the famous River Kwai.

Our first stop was a skywalk, which was not far from here. It was a really nice place to start exploring Kanchanaburi, with beautiful views, especially because it was still very early and there was no one around.

We started our day very early from Bangkok to avoid the traffic. Along the way, we enjoyed the beautiful new highway, which takes less than two hours from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi.

“So, we’re not going to return these ones?” “No. You can keep these for next time if you like to come back.” “So, we paid for these to keep them with us?” “Yeah. How much?” “Uh, 300 Thai Baht.” We kept them so that next time, we would not have to pay again.

The memorial bridge was built in World War II. They say that prisoners of war worked as slaves and made this bridge. You definitely have to visit this place once you are in Kanchanaburi. It is one of the famous spots, with lots of history, lots of tragedy, and lots of places to take nice pictures. You have to be careful while going up or down the bridge because, three years ago, on my first visit, I fell down the stairs. Luckily, nothing happened.

Thai Coffee Shops on the Road to River Kwai

The first coffee found me still sleepy. This was another stop, a second coffee shop along the way, and the place was beautiful. You could hear from my voice that I needed another strong coffee.

The coffee shops in Thailand, especially in places like this, are fantastic. It is not only about the coffee; it is about the views while you are enjoying it. You should definitely check one out once you are in Kanchanaburi. You can visit all these places before checking in.

“Mulberry banana.” “Nice.” “Beautiful, right?” “Yeah.” I was talking about the coffee shop. After the coffee and the beautiful nature, we continued toward the resort. There was almost a 1-hour-and-30-minute drive from here to our hotel. “Welcome. Wow. Good that we don’t have heavy luggage.”

Our River Kwai Resort and Room Upgrade

It was a beautiful place, but to reach it, we had to work out a little. We came down the stairs and found ourselves on the river, with the bungalows and reception in front of us. She had booked it. I had no idea; it was her idea. So far, it was really nice.

Our first room was 306. It was very quiet, right on the river, and included breakfast and dinner. At 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., they had a boat activity on the water. The room had a very hard bed, romantic lights, a fan, air conditioning, a small cozy room, and a bathroom with a shower, hot water, and a toilet. We were going to spend one night there.

The corner room was beautiful because it had views in front and at the side. We spoke with reception, and they upgraded us. The last room at the corner was room 407. It had one single bed and a double bed. “Yes, me. I sleep there, you sleep here.” The most beautiful thing was the view from the windows toward the river. The corner rooms had windows on the river, while the rooms in the middle did not.

Kirimantra Restaurant and the Sunset Boat Ride

Kirimantra Restaurant and the Sunset Boat Ride

Kirimantra was the name of the restaurant. Everywhere we went that day was beautiful, and this was a really beautiful restaurant with a view. We enjoyed the meal and the background. We paid about 695 Thai Baht with the beers, so Kanchanaburi was very affordable. There were lots of things to enjoy along the way.

After the meal, we walked a little and then went back to the resort. We relaxed, and at almost 4:30 p.m., it was time to see the water activity at 5:00. A boat pulled us along the river while we enjoyed the ride.

Once we arrived at the spot, people could swim and return to their room at the resort without taking the boat again. It was an amazing experience. The boat was very big, like a moving restaurant with seats, and the sunset was really beautiful. It was not only about staying in the room; it was about experiencing all these beautiful things along the way.

Dinner, Morning Fog and Breakfast by the River

Dinner, Morning Fog and Breakfast by the River

Back at the resort, dinner had lots of food: vegetarian options, fish, vegetables, shrimps, soup, and chicken. There was a big variety. The place also had a pool for people who loved swimming. Of course, jumping into the river at night was not a good idea, but there was a pool, too. There were lots of choices, including vegetables, meat, pork, beef, chicken, fruits, and sweets.

We relaxed a little. You could buy beers and drinks there, but it was better to drink in the room because if you drank and got drunk, you would not be able to see anything on the river or along the way.

The next morning, at 6:00 a.m., I woke up to the fog. The weather was lovely and very cool, as if we were in the mountains. At breakfast, there were not too many choices, but it was enough. There was coffee and lots of vegetables for people who did not eat meat. “Where is the coffee? Is this the coffee?” “I don’t know.” “Oh. You have to make your own coffee.”

Other than that, this place was really nice, relaxing, and beautiful. It also had activities, breakfast, and dinner, and the price was affordable. I think one or two nights is more than enough. All in all, everything was perfect.
