High season can raise domestic airfares, hotel rates, transfers and tour prices, particularly around December, New Year and school holidays. A fare that looks reasonable several weeks earlier may rise sharply as departure approaches, so fixed-date travellers should compare dates and book important travel earlier.

Check the complete price rather than only the headline fare. Baggage, airport transfers, taxes, breakfast and cancellation terms can change the real cost considerably. If dates are flexible, compare weekdays and shoulder-season options before paying.

The best destination depends on whether the priority is nightlife, beaches, shopping, sightseeing or quieter days. Popular tours and hotels should still be booked earlier during the festive period, even when choosing a less crowded destination.

By the time Loy Krathong arrives, the high-season atmosphere is often much more noticeable in Bangkok. Streets, malls and markets become busier, while seasonal events bring more people into central areas.
