MBK Sport Shoes and Sportswear in Bangkok
MBK Center is one of the places in Bangkok where you can find discounted sports shoes, sportswear and football shirts. Many of the shoes are authentic and can cost less than 15 dollars during the sales.
MBK is easy to reach by taking the BTS SkyTrain to National Stadium and walking to the mall. The building is large, with many choices across its floors, but the third floor is the main area for sports shoes and sportswear.
Some shoes originally priced at 2,590 Thai Baht were reduced to 518 Thai Baht. Other examples included shoes reduced from 2,190 to 438 Thai Baht and from 1,990 to 597 Thai Baht. Fila shoes were available for around 590 Thai Baht, while one Adidas pair had fallen from 7,000 to 1,000 Thai Baht.
The available sizes depend on the remaining stock. Most sizes may be available, but shoppers sometimes need to change their preferred style if the right size has already sold. Some last-chance items cost less than 90 percent of their original price, although the choice of style and size is more limited.
The shop also sells sportswear and football shirts. Many football shirts start at around 400 Thai Baht, with examples including an original Liverpool shirt for 560 Thai Baht. New arrivals can cost about 1,000 Thai Baht, depending on the style, colour and size.
Fortune Town Electronics Mall in Bangkok
Fortune Town is one of the best-known places in Bangkok for electronics. It can be reached by taking the BTS and changing to the underground train, then travelling to Rama 9 station.
Anyone planning to fly a drone in Thailand needs to check the registration, insurance and licensing requirements and can only fly in permitted areas. The mall also has many shops selling cameras, accessories and other electronics.
A memory card for new filming equipment was reduced from 400 to 299 Thai Baht. Camera accessories and holders for a scooter and bag cost 500 Thai Baht together, while the same items had previously been quoted at 500 Thai Baht each elsewhere.
Fortune Town also has a used-items section with laptops, cameras, accessories, iPhones and Samsung phones at lower prices. It is not only an electronics mall, as shoppers can also find stationery and food in the building.
MBK Original and First Copy Shopping
MBK also has shops selling original sports shoes, authentic t-shirts, sunglasses and travel bags. Some shops selling first-copy items had previously been closed, but many were open again during this visit.
The copy section has t-shirts and other items at different prices, and shoppers need to bargain. One example was a shirt offered at 1,300 Thai Baht after discussion. Other items included shoes priced at 570 Thai Baht and products ranging from 800 to 2,500 Thai Baht.
Some sellers describe first-copy items as being the same as the original, but they are not authentic. The quality and price vary, so shoppers should know the genuine price before deciding whether an item is worth buying.
Copy sunglasses were available for around 1,500 to 2,000 Thai Baht, although the quality may not last. Local t-shirts were available for around 99 Thai Baht, and shops such as All Seasons sold copy sports shoes along the route through the mall.
MBK was extremely busy, with very few closed shops. The market can offer good prices, but bargaining and checking quality remain important. If you do not know the original price, a seller may offer a copy at a much higher price than it is worth.
Now let’s go to the third floor, where you can find basically all the good copy items. One of the things that you should check at the third floor is copy football jerseys with very good prices and quality.
The shop is called Cotton. It’s located at the third floor, section C. I’m giving you all the details because if you are going to check them one by one, you are going to lose a lot of time. This is one of the shops that is displaying copy bags.
Football shirts were around 300 baht, with an offer of five shirts for 1,000 baht, about 125 baht each. New Balance shoes were offered at 1,500 or 1,700 baht. There were also affordable polo shirts, shorts and swimming shorts. Some polo shirts cost only 190 Thai Baht, while the shorts and swimming shorts were around 390 Thai Baht. The available sizes were varied, but the quality of individual items still needed to be checked.
Body Glove t-shirts were available in several colours. Plain shirts cost around 250 Thai Baht after a reduction from 590 Thai Baht, and the material was described as remaining in good condition after frequent washing.
Discounts depended on the style, colour and size. During the midyear sales, shoppers could find original sportswear at much lower prices, but the best bargains depended on the stock available on the day.
Bargaining for Premium Copies at MBK
Some shops selling copy bags and other famous-brand items may invite interested shoppers into rooms at the back. The better copies are usually shown there, but they are not necessarily cheap and still require careful checking.
One bag with an original price of around 35,000 Thai Baht was offered as a copy for about 8,000 Thai Baht. The price difference was large, but shoppers should remember that a copy is not the same as an authentic item.
For shoppers visiting Bangkok during the midyear sales, MBK combines original sportswear, discounted shoes, local clothing and copy-market stalls. Checking the quality, comparing prices and bargaining carefully can help shoppers spend less without losing sight of what they are buying.
MBK Center Access and Ground-Floor Promotions
MBK Center is reached directly from the BTS National Stadium station. The ground floor has promotional sections that change with the season.
The first clothing section had copy T-shirts at 390 baht, with some priced at 200 baht. An Under Armour copy was 590 baht. Champion and Tommy Hilfiger copies were 290 baht. Reebok copies were 50 or 100 baht, and New York Yankees items were 150 baht. Sizes included very large sizes, but there was no fitting room.
BTS Nana to National Stadium and MBK
From Nana station, the BTS can be taken to National Stadium for MBK. Motorbikes are everywhere, so care is needed when walking on the streets.
Even when rain is expected, the day may stay cloudy and windy without rain. MBK offers an indoor option for shopping when the weather is uncertain.
Copy Luggage at MBK
The luggage section had cases at 2,690 baht for a small case and 3,490 baht for a large case. The medium size was described as suitable for domestic flights, and the large case was 29 inches. The cases included Titan Sport, Wonder Sport, and Pro designs, described as copies of luggage that can cost 20,000 or 30,000 baht.
Other cases had prices around 3,000 or 3,500 baht, including different colours and several locks. An Iron Man case was 1,500 baht. The cases were heavy even when empty, which was relevant because airline luggage weight can create problems while travelling.
The first item you can check at the base floor is the handbags. This is nice. Sorry. How much this one? 1,800. How much is this one? 6,500 Thai Baht. Why? Very heavy. If you want, I can give you discount for you. No, not the price. I mean, aluminum is heavy now, brother. This is empty, right? Yeah. Aluminum, M size, 24 size here, brother. How many kilos is this? This is around 4 kilos. Four kilos empty.
You should not pay more than, I think, 800 Thai Baht. Sometimes, even if you can bargain a lot, you can get it for 600 Thai Baht. So, if you want to buy a couple of luggages, you can buy them from this floor. I don’t recommend buying other than that. The promotional T-shirts are also copies and are priced. No need to bargain.
Original Items on MBK Third Floor
Original items were available at the end of the third floor. The Super Sport Factory Store had three large sections. A pair priced at 4,900 baht was reduced to 2,940 baht, and another part of the store had new collection items at 5,000 and 3,000 baht.
Original Nike items included one pair reduced from 3,300 to 1,650 baht, another item at 1,000 baht, and other prices of 1,100, 1,200, 690, and 1,520 baht. Some of the items shown had already sold, so finding a particular size depended on what remained in the store.
Original Sportswear and Football Shirts
Original football T-shirts were shown at 60 percent off. Copy shirts had been offered at 700 baht, while original shirts were 1,200 baht. Another offer was three original shirts for 1,200 baht, about 350 baht each. Other original sportswear prices included 890 baht and 690 baht.
The original shirts and sportswear were described as keeping their colour and design after repeated washing. The comparison throughout MBK was between paying for copy items at an unmarked bargaining price and buying original items from the discounted third-floor stores.
