Bangkok Airport Delays Exchange Rates and Travel Guide

Some flights are canceled. Some flights are delayed, and some flights are on time. That’s the situation these days.

A lot of people are coming from different destinations. Their flights are not on time. These are the arrivals at Suvarnabhumi Airport, and it’s kind of not too busy.

As you know, things are upside down in the world, but still in Thailand, everything is okay.

Now we are at the departures floor, and you can see the long queues. Lots of people are leaving. It’s almost 7:00, and I’m here to say goodbye to my friend. He’s leaving tonight.

How can you top it up? You go to the nearest Kasikorn Bank, and there you can pay either with your currency, let’s say USD, or you can pay by Thai Baht if you don’t exchange it in the bank, because the rates at the bank are not that good.

If you want to exchange the money outside, and later take the Thai Baht to Kasikorn Bank, show your phone and your passport, and you can top it up without any commission. That’s it, because a lot of people are worried about the commission.

Let’s say after that, you don’t use all the money inside your account after your vacation is over in Thailand. You can go back to the bank and take the cash. So, that’s it. It’s very easy.

QR Codes for Taxis and Street Vendors

Especially these days, the taxis will be on QR code. You don’t have to be scammed. You just pay the amount that you have to pay. Or sometimes, if you are going to pay cash, they don’t have change. So, no problem, you can pay by QR code.

Most of the things in Thailand use QR code, even the street vendors. Or, let’s say, if you are going to pay a person directly and they have a Thai bank account, you can transfer the money from your account to their account without any commission. That’s the best part, rather than using credit cards or debit cards.

Airport Rail Link from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Bangkok

Having a credit card or a debit card once you are in Thailand will save you a lot of time, especially if you are taking the Airport Link. You don’t have to wait in all the queues.

Once you are using the MRT, the blue line underground train, you just tap your debit card or credit card, Visa, MasterCard, or UnionPay, and that’s it. You can use it without waiting in the queues.

But now, it’s kind of empty. As I said, today the airport looks a little bit different. I don’t know if it’s because of the situation, or because now it’s almost 8:00, but usually at this time, the airport is always busy.

We are going to Phaya Thai Station, and from there we are going to exchange it with the green line to go to Sukhumvit.

Now, it’s 19:21. Let’s see how much it will take to be in downtown Bangkok. We are going towards Sukhumvit, and you can have an idea about how much time it will take.

The last train leaves from here before midnight. After midnight, you cannot take the Airport Link.

Reaching Phaya Thai Station from Suvarnabhumi Airport

Welcome to Phaya Thai Station. It took almost 40 minutes from the airport. Now, as you can see, exit to the BTS green line, second level. We are going to take the BTS.

You can feel once again how humid the weather is outside, although now it’s almost 8:00.

Bangkok Exchange Rates and Sukhumvit Traffic

Along the way, you can see, it’s 30.9, almost 31. We are in the city now, and the exchange rate is starting to rise.

It’s almost 8:20, so it’s taking around 1 hour and less than 100 Thai Baht. It was 45 Thai Baht from the airport to Phaya Thai Station, and from there we exchanged it with the Sukhumvit line, only 38 Thai Baht, so around 80 Thai Baht from the airport to the city.

That’s the cheapest and fastest way of transportation, but as I said, it’s until midnight.

Now, let’s check the rates in Sukhumvit and see how much better they are. As you can see along the way, it’s 31.10, 31.20. I mean, the best rate you can take is 31.30.

Now, it’s almost 10:00, and you can see the traffic. This is Bangkok day and night. The traffic is something very, very bad, but the good thing is that, as you saw from the airport till here, it took 1 hour.

After that, you can walk around and take the BTS.
